New figures reveal nearly 31 per cent of women aged 25 to 49 are missing vital checks for cervical cancer. Regular checks are vital, as the illness has very few symptoms. Many experts are blaming the high rate of missed checks on the lack of available GP appointments.
The cervical cancer tests can detect abnormal changes in the lining of the cervix. Doctors can then remove these cells before they become cancerous, preventing the disease from developing. Therefore, these missed checks may be the reason cervical cancer rates among under-35s have risen by 45 per cent.
