Dr Ghazavi is an enthusiastic dermatologist with a desire for dermatology changes. Before his dermatology training he had a great experience in tropical skin conditions including treating children and adults with cutaneous leishmaniasis and it’s residual scar on exposed parts of their skin. Due to his outstanding achievements in clinical and academic areas he was offered a Highly Skilled Migrant Visa in 2004 to continue his professional development in the UK.
Since the early stage of his training as a junior doctor, Mohammad has received very positive feedback from his patients and colleagues for his bedside manner on several occasions.
His special interest in rare skin diseases and common conditions with unusual presentations has led to a number of publications in peer review journals and presentations in international conferences. Consequently he has been awarded from well-known dermatology societies such as British Association of Dermatologists and European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology. He is currently involved in a number of academic activities including reviewing the case report manuscripts submitted to British Medical Journal for publication.
His research is very patient orientated, and highly focussed on improving the patients’ quality of life. For example, he has been involved in a couple of projects to identify the top priorities for further study on Hidradenitis Suppurativa and to develop a user friendly scoring system for monitoring the disease. He was also one of the clinical advisors to support the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) to approve the most recent treatment for this relatively common, but under reported debilitating condition.
Dr Ghazavi has developed the required skills and competencies to perform simple and complex procedures to remove skin cancer and non cancerous lesions such as wart and benign mole with great surgical outcome.
He is also a cosmetic dermatologist whose skills have benefitted those patients with disfiguring scar from surgery, trauma, and acne, ageing, diseases of pigmentation etc. They include micro needling, ablative and non ablative and non ablative laser, and injectables such as Botox and fillers. His injectable skills include Botox injection for active facial wrinkles, facial asymmetry and frontal and palmo plantar hyperhidrosis, and advanced filler techniques such as 8 point approach for non-surgical face lifting, skin hydration and rejuvenation.
General dermatology including treating adults with eczema, psoriasis, folliculitis etc. is another area of Dr Ghazavi’s expertise.
