Dr Mendis is a Consultant in Pain Management, offering private treatment for pain in Essex at Baddow Hospital. He also holds the post of Regional Advisor to the North Thames Region of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists.

Dr Mendis completed his training in London, Sri Lanka and the Ukraine, where he graduated from Vinnitsa Medical Academy. Since 2004, Dr Mendis has presented original lectures on a wide variety of related topics and given press interviews to local and international media as part of local and international awareness campaigns on chronic pain. He has been a Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthetics at Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust since March 2005.

Dr Mendis places high importance on full assessment and examination during the first consultation and any necessary investigations in order to give a clear clinical diagnosis to each patient. Dr Mendis can provide a number of interventional pain treatments, including Lumbar Facet Joint Injections, Peripheral Nerve Block, Trigger Joint Injections and Stellate Ganglion Block.

Dr Haider believes in a holistic approach to pain management which includes medications, physical therapy, simple and high end interventions, as well as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT).

Dr Haider was appointed a Pain and Anaesthetic Consultant in 2012, following extensive and high quality training in anaesthesia and pain medicine in Yorkshire Deanery, Nottingham, North London and India, spanning a period in excess of 12 years.
He undertook Advanced Pain Fellowship in a West Yorkshire scheme at Leeds and Bradford and was awarded Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
Dr Haider is on the editorial board of the Journal of Observational Pain Medicine. He has co-authored a chapter in a pain textbook titled ‘Symptom Oriented Pain Management’. He also co-founded and manages the national group for pain fellows in the UK.


Dr Zahid Waheed

Dr Waheed completed his speciality training in pain medicine in the east of England and joined a substantive consultant post at Colchester Hospital University Foundation Trust in March 2009. Prior to that, he underwent training in Ireland and Pakistan.

Dr Waheed is a member of the British Pain Society, the International Association for the Study of Pain, the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland, the Royal College of Anaesthetisists and the Society for Treatment and Study of Pain.
