Labia Reduction Cosmetic Surgery (Labiaplasty)

The cosmetic surgery called Labiaplasty corrects and defines the labia and has become increasingly popular in recent years. Women who are concerned and unhappy with the feel or appearance of protruding or unevenly-sized labia now have a solution to their embarrassment and distress.

Some women may have associated discomfort with protruding or elongated labia (usually labia minora – ‘inner lips’). Large labia may cause discomfort and irritation during sexual intercourse, exercising or while wearing certain types of clothing.

At Baddow Hospital, our Cosmetic Surgeons are able to sculpt the labia to improve symmetry, appearance and comfort.

Labia Reduction Procedure

Labiaplasty is performed under general anaesthetic, usually as a day case although it may sometimes require an overnight stay in hospital.

After Labia Reduction Surgery

Bruising, swelling and discomfort are common following this procedure but should start to subside after a week. The complication rate is low and recovery time is short. Any discomfort may be eased with painkillers.
