Baddow Hospital unveils new state-of-the-art theatre
BADDOW Hospital, the private independent hospital which opened less than three years ago, is set to unveil a brand new £500,000 state-of-the-art operating theatre.
The ‘ultra clean’ theatre will enable the hospital to carry out advanced orthopaedic surgery including foot and ankle work, carpel tunnel operations and, shortly, joint replacements.
Christian Cooper, CEO at Baddow Hospital in West Hanningfield Road, Great Baddow, said: “The demand we are facing from patients has driven the opening of this new theatre. We have moved some admin functions out of the building to create room for the theatre and ensured it is of the very highest standard.
“The ultra clean laminar flow technology means the air around the operating table is changed 500 times an hour, resulting in the cleanest possible environment in which our team of surgeons can work”.
“This investment reflects our commitment to providing the very best facilities at the hospital which is, in turn, attracting the area’s top consultants and surgeons who bring with them experience and expertise in a range of specialities.
“When we opened in June 2013, we did so with a team of eight. We now have 38 full time staff and by the end of 2016 we anticipate that number growing to 50. In the past year we have quadrupled our turnover as more and more people across Essex and beyond recognise the quality and value of the healthcare services we offer, both privately and through our support and partnership with our nearby NHS Trusts with their waiting list initiatives.”
The new theatre, which is due to treat its first patient on May 7, complements the original operating theatre and the dedicated pain management theatre.
Baddow Hospital has been developed by a team of specialist surgeons and architects who shared the vision of establishing a specialist state of the art day case hospital excelling in patient care. In a short space of time, the hospital has built a reputation for offering the highest quality, often ground-breaking, treatments for an ever-increasing range of medical issue.
