Polymyalgia Rheumatica is a relatively common inflammatory condition leading to muscle stiffness and pain. Mainly found in older female patients, polymyalgia rheumatica affects the muscles in the shoulder and or the thigh.
The condition is relatively easy to treat, although prompt evaluation by a specialist such as one of our Rheumatology Consultants is recommended to exclude serious potential complications, including vision loss, which can affect a small minority of patients.
If you suspect you may have Polymyalgia Rheumatica, contact the Rheumatology Team at Baddow Hospital and make an appointment with one of our Private GPs.
